PHYSICAL FITNESS

Your physical bodies condition is a huge influence on your mental health. Research has conclusively linked that regular exercise improves cognitive abilities and mental health to a significant degree.  The research would suggest that the subjects who exercised at moderate intensity for approximately 30 – 40 minutes, three to five days per week, experienced the maximum mood-boosting benefits.

These mood boosting benefits include:

 

  • Improved sleep.
  • Better mental endurance.
  • Reduced tiredness that can increase mental alertness.
  • Improvement in mood through increased production of serotonin and melatonin.
  • Increased energy and stamina.
  • Stress relief.
  • Confidence from weight loss.
  • Improved blood circulation.
  • Increased libido

If the client so wishes I will provide them with a detailed workout schedule designed to give them the physique they desire. This does not involve a intensive grueling training regime but is instead designed to put your change your body in a way where it is actively supporting your health and happiness. 

I usually encourage frequent small training sessions, the vast majority of which can be done at home. This is especially effective if you find your body has become weakened from prolonged duration of sitting or limited time in your schedule.

In general I like to teach my clients to become their own mini personal trainers. The reason is three fold:

  • Firstly it is far more cost effective for the client in the long run.
  • Secondly, the client is much more likely to maintain the condition of their body. 
  • Thirdly maintaining a certain level of fitness over time leads to significant improvements in mental health. 

Together we will set targets and I will oversee and compose all workouts. In addition provide my clients with knowledge, links and documents to the appropriate level workouts and devise a diet plan suited to them to be reviewed in part each session. This service is completely optional and can be forgone in favour of only CBT or BWRT work if the client so wishes.
